Corruption among Brazil's political officials is declining but still commonplace, especially in the more removed areas of the North.
Brazil is also home to many serious environmental issues, the majority of which arise from development in the Brazilian Amazon. As the number of precious metal and combustable hydrocarbon deposits discovered under the rainforest increase, sustainable development and ecosystem management opportunities will multiply in the country.
